Ultimate Soccer Tournament Packing List
So you’re packing for a trip to beautiful Foley, Alabama? We’ve got you covered with our ultimate soccer tournament packing list! Traveling with kids can be challenging, but toss in all the game day necessities and you’re on another level of stress. Below is a helpful packing list for soccer tournaments we suggest bringing along with a printable PDF. However, if you forget something, we’ve listed a few places in Foley that can help!
1. GAME DAY GEAR
Cleats, shin guards, uniform, socks, gloves and soccer ball. Make sure you have all the necessary items for games packed first and foremost!
2. FOLDABLE CHAIR
At our outdoor sports fields there are only team benches. Be sure to bring your own seating or blankets to enjoy the game.
3. WATER
Alabama weather can be a scorcher. Pack plenty of bottled water or bring your reusable bottle. Refill stations are now available at the field house.
4. SUNSCREEN
You can still get sunburned on cloudy days, don’t let it fool you! Lather up throughout the day and be safe.
5. FIRST AID KIT
You never know when accidents will happen. For the athletes, trainers will be onsite, but if you’re juggling multiple kids it’s always good to have a kit handy.
6. BUG SPRAY
Our field crew does an amazing job at keeping up with any bug life happening however there’s always a chance of some slipping through the cracks.
7. UTILITY WAGON
From the entrance at the FSTC field house to the farthest field is roughly 1,700′. That’s a lot of steps. Collapsible utility wagons can help you tote your things.
8. TENT
Foley Sports Tourism Complex (FSTC) includes 16 outdoor grass fields, but shade is limited! Tents are allowed, weather permitting (tents must be taken down should wind gusts increase to 12mph or higher & tent stakes can be no longer than 6″) If you’re limited on space or forget your tent, Academy Sports + Outdoors is right around the corner.
9. HAND WIPES/BABY WIPES
These are great to have as backup when snacks or spills get the best of you. Be sure to add these to your list.
10. UMBRELLA OR SPORTS SHELTER POD
Afternoon showers can pop up quickly, but with our field drainage system, rain shouldn’t delay the game too long. Pack an umbrella, poncho or invest in an enclosed weather pod to stay dry.
11. EXTRA SOCKS
If you have backup uniform socks, great! All day on the field can lead to some serious sweating and wet feet are not good. Plus, if you plan on bowling at Gulf Bowl, you will need some backup socks!
12. TOWEL
Packing a towel or 2 is great for wiping down equipment, chairs or spills.
13. SUNGLASSES & HATS
Tanger has over 100 stores to shop from to find these items.
14. COMFY WALKING SHOES
You may do a lot of walking during your visit to Foley. Whether it’s from field to field or you venture out to OWA Parks & Resort to enjoy Tropic Falls theme park for the day, you will want some good shoes.
15. EXTRA CASH
You may only have time for a little snack between games, luckily you can grab something quick from one of the food trucks or icy vendors. Most accept cards, however just in case bring some extra cash. If you have time to kill between matches, check out our partner restaurants!
16. PERMANENT MARKER
Don’t forget to label your things! With hundreds of athletes and fans at one location, it’s easy to get items mixed up or left behind. Keep a marker on hand or label your items before you leave.
17. COOLING TOWEL
These are wonderful for players to have when the heat gets to them. They are lightweight, easy to pack, and a quick dunk under some cold water can be very refreshing.
18. PORTABLE CHARGER
Don’t forget the portable phone charger. Taking photos all day can drain your battery. Be sure to charge it up before hitting the fields.
19. BACKPACK/TOTE BAG

20. PLANS FOR YOUR FURRY FRIENDS
Pets are NOT allowed at the FSTC so please make arrangements prior to your trip. Service animals are welcome, but must be on leash.
21. EXTRA KEYS
Packing an extra pair of keys somewhere in your suitcase is always a good idea.
22. BLUETOOTH TRACKER
Bluetooth tracking devices are great to put inside soccer bags, attach to keys, and other important items just in case they go missing. Remember to check your packing list for the soccer tournament to ensure you track all essential items.
