Stay Sun Safe

                It’s that wonderful time of year when everyone is shaking off winter and getting ready for time outside. Whether you’re playing at the FST Fields or coming off the courts of the Foley Event Center and ready to play at one of our many attractions, protecting yourself from the sun will ensure you get to experience all the fun Foley has to offer without any regrettable burns. To help you out we’ve put together a list of ways to keep yourself sun safe this season.

                Sunscreen

                Sunscreen is a must bring item whether you play indoor or outdoor sports. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend a broad spectrum sunscreen that filters both UVA and UVB rays and has an SPF of 15 or higher so make sure to check the label. If you’re playing on the FST Fields make sure to reapply at least every two hours or before every game. If you’re splashing around at Tropic Falls at OWA make sure to reapply after swimming or toweling off.

                Shade

                Staying in the shade definitely reduces your risk of sun damage so if you plan on setting up to watch on the fields pack an umbrella or one of those snazzy camp chairs with a personal awning. Forget to pack yours? Not to worry stores around town like Academy Sports and Outdoors or Walmart have you covered- literally!

                Clothing

                While warm weather has most of us dreaming of tank tops and flip flops, clothing is a great way to keep your skin safe from harmful rays. We know it’s hard to find something that provides coverage without making you sweat like you’re playing the last five minutes of a championship game. Many of the stores at Tanger Outlets, including Columbia and Sand Dollar Lifestyles, offer options that are light and comfortable while keeping your skin safe.

                Sunglasses and Hats

                Stay sun safe and make a fashion statement by wearing sunglasses and hats. This is the perfect time to represent your team by wearing a hat with a shady brim. Some of the coolest team photos are everyone gathered together wearing their shades and there are plenty of places to grab matching UV protection ones for the whole team.
