The West Florida Waves are rolling into Foley Event Center to host the Wavefest volleyball tournament March 12 – 13 and the competition looks to be fierce.
Tournament Director Jeff Schmitt said tournament is set to draw girls club teams from around the USA Volleyball Gulf Coast Region. This year the event is so large they had two split it between two locations.
“We have 110 teams registered,” Schmitt said. “We decided it would be best to split the competition between Foley and the University of West Florida to keep things running smoothly and on schedule.”
Foley Sports Tourism Event Operations Coordinator Chad Raybon said Wavefest has always been large and even split over two facilities, there will be plenty to keep the Event Center staff busy.
“Our goal is to provide the best customer service so people always want to play at our facility,” Raybon said. “If it’s not cleaning then it’s helping direct visitors or assisting tournament staff. We want to be everything to everyone who comes through those doors.”
Wavefest runs all day Saturday and Sunday and there is a $5 charge for admission. For more information on this or any FST event visit our events page.
