Volleyball Teams Battle It Out

Eastern Shore Volleyball Club is returning to the Foley Event Center this weekend for the Battle By the Bay tournament.

This will be the first held at the facility after the state mask mandate is set to expire on April 9. Tournament Director Patsy Burke said that masks will not be required but there will be safety protocols in place.

“Start times are staggered, spectators and teams not playing will be asked to exit the building,” Burke said. “Spectators and players can wear a mask if they prefer.”

Burke said the club has been hosting the tournament for 25 years and is set to draw more than 100 girls club teams from Mississippi, Tennessee, Louisiana, and Alabama. She said the location is a huge reason why the tournament continues to draw.

“The Foley Event Center is a premier event center that houses 12 state of the art courts which allows clubs to bring all their teams to one location,” Burke explained. “The attractions, hotels and dining are ideal for hosting a tournament like Battle by the Bay.”

The tournament will run all day April 10 – 11. For more information on Battle of the Bay or any Foley Sports Tourism event, visit our events page.
