The West Florida Waves Volleyball Club returns to the Foley Event Center this weekend to host the 7th Annual Wavefest.
This is the first time they’ve brought the competition to Foley and are expecting more than 120 teams. This year teams will be attending from Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Georgia. Tournament Director, Rachel McMenimen, said the city is a huge reason the competition draws so many participants.
“Wavefest has always been a destination/spring break tournament for our out of town participants,” McMenimen explained. “Foley has so much to offer the teams and their families attending the tournament. As a hosting club, we appreciate not only the beautiful facility and its location, the people at the Foley Event Center make it a fun and collaborative place to host a tournament.”
Foley Sports Tourism Event Operations Manager Angela Sullivan said Wavefest will be one of the largest volleyball tournaments of the year, but the staff is ready.
“We have been lucky to host so many wonderful volleyball tournaments. We are prepared to accommodate this many teams because we’ve done it in the past,” Sullivan said. “But Wavefest is also unique in that we’ve never hosted it before. It gives us a chance to share Foley with some visitors who may have never been here before and that’s always exciting for us.”
Wavefest will kick off at 8 a.m. both March 7 and 8. It is open to the public and there is a $5 charge for admission. To learn more about this or any FST event, visit our events page.
