Volleyball is in Full Bloom at Spring Fling

After a quiet St. Patrick’s Day weekend, the Foley Event Center is back in action for the Lower Alabama Volleyball Spring Fling March 24 – 25. The first quarter of 2018 has been packed with volleyball events, the Spring Fling is the seventh.

The competition is expected to be strong with an anticipated 50 teams, ages 12 – 18, from around the region, including Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida.

Tournament Director Kate Wood said Foley is becoming the destination for volleyball in the region.

“The amazing facility and the partnership with the City of Foley have been great,” Wood said. “Also, they’ve worked closely with our Gulf Coast Region to make hosting events easy.”

Foley Sports Tourism Deputy Director, Don Dukemineer said making tournaments easy is a huge goal for the department.

“From start to finish, we aim to make all aspects of the event successful for our partners,” Dukemineer said. “At the end of the day, our goal is for repeat business. Customer service is our first priority. And our team wants to create and build relationships that bring visitors back to our city again and again.”

The Lower Alabama Volleyball Spring Fling kicks off at 8 a.m. on Saturday March 24. The event is open to the public but there is a $5 charge for admission.
