Spring is in the air with warmer temps, dreams of summer, and the Spring Fling Volleyball tournament at the Foley Event Center, March 23 – 24.
This will be the fourth year the Spring Fling has been held and Tournament Director, Kate Wood, said it’s continued to grow every year.
“We have 20 more teams than last year, and more from out of town than ever before with teams from Louisiana, Georgia, Florida, and Mississippi,” Wood said.
The growth is due in part to the facilities, Wood explains, but the attractions in Foley are also a big draw. For the 2019 tournament, all coaches and players will enjoy free admission into The Park at OWA on Friday, March 22, while friends and family members will be offered a discounted rate.
Foley’s Director of Recreation and Sports Tourism, David Thompson, said it is these kinds of events where Foley really shines.
“We tout ourselves as a one-stop shop,” Thompson said. “Visitors have the opportunity to play in tournaments and then play in other ways off the field by riding a roller coaster or shopping at the outlets, all within a five-mile radius.”
The Spring Fling kicks off at 8 a.m. both March 23 and 24. The event is open to the public and there is a $5 admission charge.
