The Lower Alabama Volleyball Club is celebrating the season by hosting their annual Spring Fling Tournament at the Foley Event Center March 27 – 28.
Tournament Director Kate Wood said the event will bring 96 teams to the area. The teams will be traveling from Alabama, Florida, Mississippi, and Louisiana to compete. Wood said with the large number of registered teams there will be certain COVID protocols in place to keep everyone safe.
“We have cut down on the entry of teams, and we are spreading out over four gyms to keep teams spaced out,” Wood said. “We are also staggering start times, and allowing 22 spectators per team.”
Foley Event Center Building Supervisor Jeff Ryan said everyone is excited to have Spring Fling back, and as silly as it may sound, happening in the spring.
“This was one of the first events to get postponed last year due to the pandemic,” Ryan said. “It was also one of the first events hosted once restrictions got eased last summer. We are truly thankful for strong partners like Kate Wood and Lower Alabama Volleyball who work with us on the changes in protocols to keep our visitors safe as things continue to evolve.”
The Spring Fling will run all day both Saturday and Sunday. For more information on this or any Foley Sports Tourism event, visit our events page.
