Southern Coast Cup Returns to Foley

Boys and girls high school soccer will be taking over the FST Fields this weekend for the 2021 Southern Coast Cup Presented by Adidas and people are excited.

The Southern Coast Cup is the spring south central region competition for the High School Cup, which is awarded based on Topdrawersoccer.com rankings. Teams who compete and do well in the Foley can greatly enhance their standings and the chance of winning the High School Cup.

Tournament Director Van Harper said they are expecting teams from Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Tennessee, and Texas in varsity and junior varsity divisions. Harper added that the teams aren’t the only ones looking forward to the event.

“It’s been 720 days since we’ve been in Foley – yes, we counted – and it’s been too long,” Harper said. “The complex, staff and everyone in Foley have been great partners with us since 2018. It’s turned into our favorite trip each spring and we look forward to hosting the Southern Coast Cup for many years to come.”

Foley Sports Tourism Event Operations Coordinator Chad Raybon said the facility’s staff is also looking forward to the Southern Coast Cup.

“We like to believe the road to the High School Cup runs through Foley,” Raybon said. “Even though the event was forced to cancel last year due to the pandemic, it’s great to see that their excitement at coming back matches our own. We hope to continue building that excitement for years to come.”
