The Perdido Soccer Shootout Girls weekend was a huge success and now it’s time for the boys to take their turn on the Foley Sports Tourism (FST) fields March 14-15.
The tournament, a partnership between Snap Soccer and Perdido Bay FC, has been growing for more than ten years. It got so large it was necessary to split it into two weekends, said Tournament Director Nick Cooper. The split allowed the tournament planners to keep a high level of play across all divisions.
“This is a great all-boys event,” Cooper said. “It’s fantastic to see teams from 6 different states. With the size of the event it also allows us to provide great competition in each bracket to create a level playing field for all in attendance.”
Boys Weekend is anticipating about 100 teams from Florida, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, Alabama, and Illinois. FST Grounds Supervisor Rhett Brown said the staff loves having teams come from so many different areas.
“When there are teams that don’t often see each other the facility really gets buzzing,” Brown said. “It becomes anybody’s game. It’s each team’s chance to write the ending they want without expectations or previous match-ups hanging over them.”
The Perdido Soccer Shootout Boys Weekend kicks off at 8:30 a.m. both days. The event is open to the public and there is a $5 charge for parking. For more information on this or any FST event visit our events page.
