The Bama Beach Pickleball Club returns to the Foley Event Center February 15 -17 for the Snowbird Classic.
Tournament Director Eddie McDonald said the tournament is all doubles competition but is spread over a range of skill levels and age groups. The men compete Tuesday, mixed is Wednesday, and Thursday wraps things up with the women’s competition. McDonald said they are seeing record setting registration numbers this year as both the tournament and the sport continue to grow in this region.
“It is a rare, middle of the week tournament and the only tournament that allows the snowbirds to compete while they are here for the winter,” McDonald said. “We have more participants this year than any other year including last year. We would like to thank Foley Sports Tourism for letting us put on this event again this year and look forward to a huge turnout of pickleball enthusiasts and maybe those who are curious about the game and would like to find out more.”
Event Operations Coordinator Chad Raybon said it’s always a pleasure to have pickleballers in the facility.
“Yes it’s a competition, but you can tell that this group puts fun first,” Raybon said. “They enjoy every opportunity to play. They are so enthusiastic it’s natural for them to want to share it with those snowbirds that are visiting. Foley Sports Tourism also gets the opportunity to share all of the other wonderful things to do in the city with those visitors as well.”
The Bama Beach Snowbird Classic kicks off at 8 a.m. each day and is free and open to the public. For more information on this or any FST event visit our events page.
