For more than ten years the Perdido Soccer Shootout has drawn teams from around country and this year the event returns the FST Fields. The girls compete first March 5 -6 and the competition is set to be better than ever.
The tournament, a partnership between Snap Soccer and Perdido Bay FC, is expecting about 80 teams for the girls weekend. The teams are coming from Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Illinois, and Tennessee in age divisions ranging from U9 – U19. Tournament Director, Zack Touchstone, said the number of teams registering each year has been consistently growing and part of that growth is due to the unique competition in a great setting.
“I think multiple things set this event apart. Including the event having a girls only weekend, which helps add more competition to divisions. Normally we have two or three divisions per age group,” Touchstone explained. “Also, it’s a great location, great fields, and great staff. People know what they are getting when they come to Foley. They know they are going to play on some of the best fields in the country.”
FST Event Operations Coordinator Chad Raybon said the Soccer Shootout is two weekends they know will be busy, but the entire staff sees it as an opportunity rather than a challenge.
“Over the course of two weekends we are likely to see around 200 soccer teams,” Raybon explained. “We know it will be a lot but this is where FST thrives as a team. High volume is an opportunity to find ways to become not only more efficient but more welcoming. It’s events like Soccer Shootout that really breed some of our best innovations we can then apply to other competitions throughout the year.”
The Perdido Soccer Shootout- Girls Weekend runs all day both Saturday and Sunday. For more information about this tournament or any FST event visit our events page.
