The Perdido Soccer Shootout has been held annually since 2009 and has developed a reputation for top-tier competition. The tournament has grown so large they have split it into two weekends with Boys Weekend running this year March 12 – 13 at the FST Fields.
Tournament Director, Zack Touchstone, said the competition is a partnership between Snap Soccer and Perdido Bay FC that is only growing stronger year to year. This year for Boys Weekend more than 130 teams are expected to travel to Foley from states around the nation including Florida, Louisiana, Texas, Tennessee, Missouri, and Illinois. Touchstone said the Shootout has developed a reputation for great competition in a great location.
“People know what to expect when coming to Foley, they know they’ll be playing on some of the best fields in the country,” Touchstone said. “Additionally, the event being a boys – only weekend allows for more divisions among age groups and provides better competition among teams.”
Foley Sports Tourism Event Operations Coordinator Chad Raybon said the Shootout has not only strengthened FST’s partnership with Snap Soccer, but also the relationship the city has with the event’s participants.
“Working with Snap Soccer is always a highlight. We have a clear understanding of each other’s missions and work toward finding mutually-beneficial innovations to improve events each year,” Raybon said. “By improving events it makes people want to attend Snap tournaments, especially the ones in Foley where there is so much to explore during their downtime.”
