Snap Soccer is returning to Foley this weekend for a Fall Playdate and the Gulf States Premier League (GSPL) will be joining them to bring even more teams to the FST Fields September 25 – 26.
Snap Soccer Operations Manager Zack Touchstone said the Playdate will follow the usual laidback format with no score being kept.
“Playdates allow for a good environment for players to get practice games in with their team,” Touchstone explained. “Players can play in new positions that they don’t normally try out.”
In addition to the Playdate, GSPL will also being in Foley for a League Date sharing the facility. The league, founded in May 2011 as a part of U.S. Club Soccer’s National Premier Leagues, is home to 13-U through 19-U boys and girls teams from Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Tennessee.
Foley Sports Tourism Event Coordinator Chad Raybon said it will be good to have soccer back on the fields.
“Last weekend’s weather forced the Publix SuperCup Boys Weekend to cancel,” Raybon said. “This weekend’s forecast looks fabulous and we are so ready to have the fields back in use.”
The Snap Soccer Playdate runs all day Saturday. The GSPL League Date runs all day Saturday and Sunday. For more information on these events or any FST tournament visit our events page.
