Foley, Ala. — For the first time ever, youth soccer teams from all over the Southeast will come to Foley, Alabama to compete in the inaugural Memorial Day Showdown, May 27-30, 2016. Some 80-100 teams, representing boys and girls teams ages 8-to-18, are expected to attend, including top-ranked clubs from an eight state area. The tournament will be the first soccer event at the new Foley Sports Tourism Complex (FSTC), with its 16 full-sized, newly constructed soccer fields.
The sports fields are part of a $16.3-million dollar development that will include hotels, retail stores, restaurants, an amusement park and extensive indoor Event Center with basketball and volleyball courts. The facility is the largest sports and entertainment complex within a 400-mile radius and is similar to ESPN’s Wide World of Sports at Disney World.
Located just 7 five miles north of the fabulous beaches of Gulf Shores and Orange Beach and adjacent to the Tanger Outlets, the Foley Sports Tourism Complex Sportsplex is a perfect location for families to enjoy the area’s incredible beaches, amazing seafood, outstanding shopping and first-class sports events.
The Memorial Day Showdown is being produced by Snap Soccer, one of the Southeast’s most prolific and respected soccer tournament management companies. Snap has been running soccer tournaments since 2007 and is the creator of such tournaments as the Publix Supercup, FloraBama Showcase and the Orange Beach Shootout. The company also manages many other events including the Coastal Academy Cup, the Eastern Shore Premier Cup, the Big Wave Classic and the Pensacola 3v3 Classic.
First year Registration fees are set very affordably for teams, ranging from $400 – $550 to ensure good attendance, depending on the age group. Attendance to games is free with the exception of a $5 per car per weekend parking permit.
