March Madness Means Volleyball in Foley

For some March Madness means basketball but at the Foley Event Center it’s all about volleyball. This weekend Eastern Shore Volleyball Club hosts their annual March Madness tournament.

Tournament Director Patsy Burke said the event will feature girls club volleyball teams ranging in age from 11 – 18. Teams will be traveling from Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, and Tennessee. She said the time of year really helps draw great competition.

“Foley Event Center is a super state of the art facility that hosts eight courts in a COVID environment keeping most of the teams in one place,” Burke said. “In addition the hotels, attractions, and beach close by draw many teams coming because of spring break.”

Event Operations Coordinator Meagan McVicker said the tournament is one they look forward to because of the time of year it falls.

“Spring is really our time to shine,” McVicker explained. “With so many visitors to our area all of our local dining and attractions are at the top of their game. There’s so much to do off the court that participants really get to experience all that Foley has to offer.”

The March Madness volleyball tournament will run all day March 20 – 21. For more information on this or any Foley Sports Tourism event visit our events page.
