It may be late February, but love is in the air this weekend at the Foley Event Center, a love for volleyball. The Lower Alabama Volleyball (LAV) Valentine Classic will run February 24 – 25.
Volleyball has become a regular sight at Foley Sports Tourism (FST), with the LAV Valentine Classic marking the fifth such event in 2018. Tournament Director Kate Wood said the popularity is because of the facility.
“It’s the best place to play in the Southeast,” Wood said.
The event is set to draw teams from across the region in age divisions ranging from 12U to 18U. That means a lot of action from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., action the public is invited to check out. Foley Director of Recreation and Sports Tourism David Thompson said it’s definitely worth dropping by.
“It’s a perfect weekend for sports in Foley,” Thompson said. “People can head into the Valentine Classic and see some really great regional volleyball. The event lets out just in time on Saturday for spectators to then head across to our championship stadium for archery. You can really play Foley all day long!”
The Valentine Classic will be charging a $5 admission for spectators but parking is free. For more information on this or an FST event check out our events page.
