The sixth annual Lower Alabama Volleyball Invitational continues a month of volleyball at Foley Sports Tourism (FST), January 17-19.
The tournament has grown each year and features competition for girls ranging in ages 11 – 18. The Invitational will attract teams from around the Gulf Coast Region including Alabama, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida.
Tournament Director, Kate Wood, said she continually looks for new ideas to keep the event exciting. For 2019, the tournament has added a team-building night at the Foley Event Center January 17.
“It is one of the first tournaments of the year, so many teams are just learning each other” Wood explained. “We thought it would be fun to get the girls together and allow a fun space to come together and learn tools off the volleyball court that will help them this season.”
Foley Sports Tourism Event Operations Coordinator Chad Raybon said it’s enjoyable to be a part of something more than just a competition.
“We want our visitors to create memories in Foley that keep them coming back year after year,” Raybon said. “The Lower Alabama Volleyball Invitational offers players an opportunity to make memories during the event, but also a hope to build friendships out of teammates. We are thankful we can give them the space and opportunity to build those relationships.”
The Lower Alabama Volleyball Invitational competition runs 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. both January 19 and 20. The competition days are open to the public and there is a $5 admission charge. For more information on this tournament or any FST event, visit our events page.
