Labor Day Classic Kicks Off Fall

Labor Day has long been the signal of the end of summer and the start of fall. Xtreme Volleyball Camps and Foley High School are celebrating that transition with the Labor Day Classic at the Foley Event Center September 3 – 4.

Tournament Director Shawn Weaver said the competition, now in its fourth year, has been consistently growing because it offers something no other event does.

“Divisions are middle through high school,” Weaver explained. “It’s the only tournament of its kind in Alabama. The five divisions are 7th grade, 8th grade, Freshman, Junior Varsity, and Varsity.”

The Classic’s uniqueness is expected to draw about 70 teams from around the region, the most the event has ever hosted.

Foley Sports Tourism Event Coordinator Meagan McVicker said it’s always great to have the hometown team help bring visitors to the city.

“This is the best of both worlds for us,” McVicker said. “Not only does the Labor Day Classic fulfill the FST mission of bringing visitors to Foley, we also get to see our Foley High School Lions in action.”

The Labor Day Classic runs the evening of September 3 and all day September 4. There is a $10 charge for admission each day. For more information on this tournament or any FST event visit our events page.
