Gymnastics is back at the Foley Event Center this weekend for the Bounders Beach Bash September 12 – 13.
The Beach Bash was the first event ever held in the Event Center back in 2017 and since then it has been a highlight of the Foley Sports Tourism calendar. Though this is only its fourth year in Foley, the Beach Bash has been held for ten years, bringing in competitors from across the Southeast.
Tournament Director Eric Kightlinger said things will look a little different this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic but the fun energy the event brings will never change.
“We will have less gymnasts per session this year,” Kightlinger explained. “We are doing awards on the floor instead of using the stage area. There is more time between sessions for sanitation and to allow for getting one group out before the next comes in.”
Foley Event Center Building Supervisor Jeff Ryan said the solid relationship FST has developed with the Beach Bash staff means it’s easy to share ideas and come up with the safest course of action.
“We regularly speak with the Bama Bounders staff whether their event is in a week or in three months,” Ryan said. “When we have an idea we are able to share it and talk through it. We don’t have to wait for specific conference calls or meetings, when something hits us we share. That type of easy communication means constant improvement for the event and in our safety protocols.”
The Bounders Beach Bash 2020 will run all day both Saturday and Sunday. Admission is $10, $5 for kids, and all those entering will be subject to event mandates and guidelines. For more information on this meet or any FST event visit our events page.
