The Foley Event Center will celebrate its one year anniversary with the return of its inaugural event, the Bounders Beach Bash, September 7 – 9. Despite the weather from Tropical Storm Gordon, the Foley Sports Tourism (FST) team will be ready to host the gymnastics team.
The meet has been held for seven years, but it is only the second time in Foley. There is no doubt word is out about how well the Foley Event Center works for gymnastics as the number of competitors has increased exponentially, from 450 in 2017 to 705 this year.
Meet organizer Erin Holdefer-Kightlinger said the facility is what makes the meet so unique because of the location and staff support.
“The Foley Event Center is the nicest facility in the State. There are many things to do around Foley like shop at Tanger Outlets, visit the new OWA amusement park, or it’s close enough to head down to the beach,” Holdefer-Kightlinger said. “Foley Sports Tourism support staff is amazing and the sense of community in the City of Foley is a big draw. Everyone wants to work together to make awesome things happen.”
Foley Sports Tourism (FST) Sports and Sponsorship Sales Manager Christy Raley said that sense of community is an important part of what FST offers to event planners.
“We are looking to create relationships with our planners,” Raley said. “We know that our facilities and area are unique, but we strive to go beyond that, to truly connect with planners and keep them coming back. We’ve been lucky enough to do just that with the incredible staff of the Bounders Beach Bash.”
The meet is open to the public and Holdefer-Kightlinger encourages people to check it out.
“Bounders Beach Bash is an awesome competition. It is neat seeing these little girls compete after working so hard to get to where they are,” she said. “Gymnasts have the opportunity to make the qualifying score to make it to State Championships.”
There will be an admission charge, $10 for adults and $5 for kids six and over.
