Snap Soccer and Perdido Bay FC have partnered once again to bring the Perdido Soccer Shootout to Foley Sports Tourism (FST). The girls will be coming to town first, March 7 – 8, with the boys competing the following weekend March 14 – 15.
Tournament Director Zack Touchstone said the event has been going strong for more than 10 years and growing each year. This year girls weekend is expecting more than 80 teams from Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Tennessee, and Illinois. Age divisions range from U9 to U19.
Touchstone said teams will get a chance to check out some new competition.
“This is a great all-girls event,” Touchstone said. “It’s fun to see all the states represented and see the teams play teams that they are not used to playing. Without the Perdido Soccer Shootout I don’t believe we’d ever see these Louisiana teams playing against the Illinois teams.”
FST Grounds Supervisor and father of a young soccer player, Rhett Brown said the crew is looking forward to having the tournament back.
“It’s exciting from a work perspective to have so many teams come in that we can share Foley with,” Brown said. “But it’s also nice because I can show my daughter how much opportunity there is for her to enjoy soccer for many years to come.”
The Perdido Soccer Shootout Girls Weekend kicks off at 8:30 a.m. March 7 – 8. It’s open to the public and there is a $5 charge for parking. For more information on this or any FST event visit our events page.
