The Perdido Soccer Shootout returns to the Foley Sports Tourism (FST) Fields this month. The girls compete first March 6 – 7 and it promises to be packed with high-quality action.
Tournament Director Zack Touchstone said the event, a partnership between Snap Soccer and Perdido Bay Futbol Club, has been held since 2009. The growth the tournament has seen over the years forced them to split it into a boys weekend and a girls weekend in order to accommodate all the teams.
This year for the girls weekend they are expecting about 70 teams from Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, Georgia, Tennessee, and Illinois. Touchstone explained teams are drawn by the facilities in Foley which allow for quality competition.
“Foley makes running the event easy and teams love playing on great fields in a central area,” Touchstone said. “Having only girls teams allows for more even competition as we are able to facilitate multiple divisions per age group.”
Field Superintendent Rhett Brown said FST’s continuing partnership with Snap Soccer also assists in the event’s growth.
“We have been lucky enough to work with Snap on a number of events,” Brown said. “By working together we’ve been able to find new ways to help them grow their events even during a global pandemic. We don’t have to start from scratch each time. We know what they’re looking for and are not only trying to accommodate them but also anticipate their future needs. It’s a collaboration that we really enjoy.”
The Perdido Soccer Shootout Girls Weekend runs all day March 6 and 7. The boys weekend is scheduled for March 13 – 14. For more on these on any FST events visit our events page.
