It’s been a balmy winter thus far, but Snap Soccer decided they still wanted to bring soccer indoors for the Winter Futsal Challenge January 4 – 5.
Tournament Director Zack Touchstone said this is the second time they’ve hosted fustal at the Foley Event Center, but it’s already grown by about 40 percent. He said teams are excited to try their hand (or foot) at something a bit different from the usual Snap events.
“The fact it’s indoor is the biggest difference,” Touchstone said. “It’s a fun spin on soccer because these games are small sided and much shorter in duration compared to one of our normal events.”
Foley Sports Tourism (FST) Event Operations Manager Angie Sullivan said it’s always a pleasure working with Snap Soccer, indoor or outdoor.
“Snap Soccer is a true partner,” Sullivan said. “They are committed to working with us to grow events in Foley. Year after year we see more and more soccer players in town for their events, filling our hotels, shopping at our stores, and eating at our restaurants.”
Teams ranging in age from U8 to U16 will be taking to the floor Friday evening from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Touchstone encourages spectators to come check it out. There is a $5 admission fee.
