Snap Soccer is taking futsal back outdoors for the Southern 5v5 Challenge at the FST Fields June 12 – 13.
Tournament Director Zack Touchstone said they are anticipating about 50 teams from Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida to compete in U8-U19 age divisions. This will be the fourth time they’ve held an outdoor futsal event and they are growing in popularity thanks, in part, to the ease of building a team.
“It’s fun, face-paced games outside,” Touchstone said. “Kids can organize their own teams with a parent-coach to attend.”
FST Event Operations Coordinator Chad Raybon said having the outdoor futsal is something exciting and different.
“It’s hard to explain other than it’s the best of both sports- soccer and futsal,” Raybon said. “It’s fun for our staff because we like hosting different types of sports and experiencing a little of everything. This is something no one else is doing.”
