The growing sport of futsal returns to Foley, this Saturday, with the Snap Soccer “Summer Futsal Challenge.”
Boys and girls teams from around the region, in divisions ranging from U8 to U15, will travel to the Foley Event Center to compete in the indoor soccer tournament. This is the fourth futsal event Snap has held in Foley and Tournament Director, Zack Touchstone, explains that it continues to grow.
“The winter tournament this past January grew by about 60 percent, and this summer tournament is already up about 40 percent,” Touchstone said. “It is a fun spin on soccer that most people have never experienced before. It is fast-paced and the games are only 40 minutes long.”
Foley Sports Tourism (FST) Deputy Director of Sales and Marketing, Don Dukemineer, said the organization can really see how people are truly enjoying the differences from outdoor soccer in a local they already know and love.
“We love working with Snap Soccer and meeting the incredible number of visitors they bring to Foley during their outdoor events,” Dukemineer said. “Futsal now provides us an opportunity to share even more of what makes FST special. By utilizing the indoor facilities, Snap Soccer participants get to experience all that we truly have to offer.”
The Snap Soccer Futsal Challenge is open to the public. There is a $5 admission charge for adults but kids, coaches, and players get in for free.
