It may be summer, but area high school volleyball teams are setting up early. The McGill-Toolen Catholic Summer Play Day will be a two-day event starting at 8 a.m. on Thursday, July 26 at the Foley Event Center.
The event will host 36 high school volleyball teams from the area who will use this tournament as a precursor for the upcoming season.
McGill-Toolen Catholic Assistant Athletic Director and head volleyball coach, Kate Wood, said this event will be different from other events hosted at The Foley Event Center because this event is for high school teams only – no club teams.
“The high school teams are gearing up for their seasons and this is a practice tournament in order to get everyone ready,” Wood said. “Foley is perfect for us because the event center can host everyone under one roof and it is an amazing facility!”
Don Dukemineer, Foley Sports Tourism’s Deputy Director, is excited to be hosting the Play Day.
“We have had success from hosting club volleyball tournaments at our facility, and we are thrilled for the opportunity to utilize our complex for a high school team only tournament,” Dukemineer said.
The public is welcome to attend. Parking is free but there will be a charge for admission. For more information on The McGill-Toolen Catholic Summer Play Day or any FST event, visit our events page.
