The Lower Alabama Volleyball (LAV) Invitational returns for a second year at the Foley Event Center January 19 – 20.
Kate Wood, tournament director, said this year’s LAV Invite will feature about 55 boys and girls teams ranging in age from 12 to 18. They will be traveling to Foley from around the state, Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida.
Wood said the tournament is becoming a regular feature on teams’ calendars because they enjoy coming to Foley.
“The amazing facility along with the great partnership between the City of Foley and our Gulf Coast Region, are why teams keep coming back,” said Wood.
Foley Sports Tourism (FST) Event Operations Manager Angie Sullivan said the returning teams are finding new things to do in the city during their stay.
“It’s so impactful to go around the city on a volleyball weekend,” Sullivan said. “You see teams at restaurants, shopping at Tanger Outlets, strolling around OWA, or playing at Gulf Bowl. They do so much more than just play in a tournament, they’re truly experiencing Foley.”
The Lower Alabama Volleyball Invitational runs from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. January 19 – 20. It’s open to the public and there will be a $5 charge for admission.
