Foley Event Center is excited to be back in action for the Lower Alabama Volleyball Spring Fling June 20 – 21.
The event was originally scheduled for March but was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Now with things back on track, Tournament Director, Kate Wood said everyone’s biggest priority is keeping people safe.
“We are implementing drive through ticketing, staggering start times for pool play, only using eight of the twelve courts, and only allowing each player to bring two spectators,” Wood said.
The event will bring approximately 60 teams from Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Florida to compete in age divisions ranging from 12U to 18U.
While the Foley Sports Tourism (FST) staff is very familiar with hosting volleyball events, this will be a new experience, said Foley Director of Recreation and Sports Tourism, David Thompson.
“We’ve enacted a number of new policies and procedures to make sure anyone who comes to play in Foley can do it safely,” Thompson said. “As a state-of-the-art facility, we are also proactively continuing to look into additional technology and practices. We do not take safety lightly and we strive to do all we can to make sure Foley can truly be enjoyed without worry.”
The event runs from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. June 20 – 21. It will not be open to the public but only to those associated with players, coaches, and event staff. For more information on the Spring Fling or and FST event visit our event page.
