It may be June but in Foley it’s never too early to be thinking of football season. Thankfully Foley High School (FHS) is hosting the Foley Showdown 7v7 competition June 30 – July 1 to give everyone a preview of what they can expect this fall.
FHS Head Football Coach Deric Scott said they are expecting teams from around the region including Mississippi, Florida, Louisiana, and, of course, Alabama. He said it was the high-caliber of competition that has teams traveling to Foley.
“The level of competition in this tournament is second to none in this state,” Scott said. “We have the 2020 7A state champions and numerous 2020 playoff-caliber teams.”
For the staff of Foley Sports Tourism, it brings together two of their favorite things.
“We love all sports here at FST but you can’t live in the South and not have a special love for football,” said FST Event Operations Coordinator Chad Raybon. “Not only are we getting the opportunity to have a taste of what’s to come this fall, but we also get the opportunity to see our hometown Foley Lions in action.”
The Foley Showdown runs the evening of June 30 and all day July 1 at the FST Fields. For more information on this or any FST event visit our events page.
