School’s out and it’s time for summer camp fun. Varsity Spirit is kicking things off with the first of four Universal Cheerleading Association (UCA) Summer Camps at the Foley Event Center running June 1 – 4.
Varsity Spirit’s Camps Account Manager Molly Key said there will be 10 – 15 teams for the first three camps with the final camp drawing 20 teams. Key said the camp is open in high school and junior high squads. Last year’s camps were canceled due to the COVID pandemic and while they are running this year, there are some lasting effects.
“Other camp locations could not host camp this summer which drove attendance to our Foley camps,” Key explained. “Varsity Spirit enjoys the location due to the event facility, and OWA access.”
Foley Sports Tourism Event Operations Coordinator Meagan McVicker said the organization is looking forward to having the cheer camps back.
“During the school year many of the youth sports events we host are on the weekends, but now that summer is here we have an uptick in our weekday events as well,” McVicker said. “It’s so much fun to have cheer camp going during our normal business hours because our entire staff gets to enjoy the high spirits of these teams, it’s not limited to just our event staff. It gets us pumped for our usual day-to-day.”
The UCA Summer Camps take place June 1 – 4, June 7 – 10, June 20 – 23, and July 27 – 30. For more information about the camps or any FST event visit our events page.
