Boys Turn For Publix SuperCup

Last weekend the Publix SuperCup Girls Weekend drew more than 100 teams for top-tier competition at the FST Fields. This weekend, September 18 – 19, it’s the boys turn to take the fields.

Tournament Director, Zack Touchstone, said the event is a long-standing partnership between Snap Soccer and Perdido Bay FC.

“This event was known as the Florabama Showcase from 2007-2013. The event started with only 75 teams in 2007 and grew to over 220 teams in 2013,” Touchstone explained. “In an effort to help offer a better soccer experience with less venues we split the event to be played over two weekends in September. Publix came online in 2014 as the title sponsor and major supporter of youth soccer in our community. This event was cancelled last year due to Hurricane Sally, we are excited to kick the 2021 event off.”

He added that the event has solidified its reputation for outstanding competition in U9 through U19 age divisions. It’s this reputation that has led more than 150 teams to register for this year’s event.

Foley Sports Tourism Event Operations Coordinator Chad Raybon said the entire staff is excited to see this year’s Boys Weekend underway.

“In the spring of 2020 we hosted the Snap Soccer Shootout Girls Weekend, but the pandemic cancelled the following Boys Weekend. Then in the fall we hosted the Publix SuperCup Girls Weekend but the following Boys Weekend was cancelled due to Hurricane Sally,” Raybon said. “I think we are all ready to get back on track. The Soccer Shootout went off without a hitch this year and we are looking forward to the SuperCup doing the same!”

The Publix SuperCup Boys Weekend will run all day both September 18 and 19. For more information on this or any FST event visit our events page.
