It’s time once again for the best boys and girls club soccer teams to compete for the title of best in the state at the Alabama Soccer Association’s (ASA) State Cup November 5 – 7 at the FST Fields.
The State Cup brings around 100 teams in U13 – U19 age divisions to the city. Competition will be strong as there is more than just a state title on the line, the event also qualifies teams for The U.S. Youth Soccer Regional Championships and Southern Presidents Cup.
Tournament Director Lynn Bertovic said the event is always exciting and those who check it out never know where the talent they are seeing now will end up playing in the future. Some might even return to Foley in future years to compete in the Sun Belt Conference Women’s Soccer Championship taking place the same weekend at the FST Championship Stadium.
“There are no fees for attendees over the weekend and spectators are welcomed to come out and watch our top youth teams compete for Alabama State Cup Championships,” Bertovic said.
Foley Sports Tourism Event Operations Coordinator Chad Raybon said the first weekend in November is always busy with Sun Belt and ASA sharing the facility but it’s always one the staff looks forward to.
“This is the weekend that is the culmination of the season for so many players,” Raybon explained. “Everything these teams have worked so hard for throughout the year is on the line. Does it end in Foley or do they go on to do even more great things? You can feel the electricity for sure.”
The ASA State Cup kicks off the evening of November 5 and runs all day the rest of the weekend. For more information on this tournament or any FST event visit our events page.
